Mr. Hall of Fame - Mr. WrestleMania - Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels, is in my opinion, the greatest performer to ever lace up wrestling boots. Some might not agree but you can't deny his accolades. He can outperform ANYONE! In the Words of TNA Wrestler A.J. Styles "Shawn can wrestle a broom and it would an amazing match - He is just that great!" He has done it all in this business and there is nothing that he didn’t accomplish. His retirement was bitter-sweet for WWE fans & himself. He was defeated by The Undertaker in an outstanding contest at WrestleMania 26. One year later, he became Mr. Hall of Fame, which is an appropriate name for Mr. WrestleMania. It was an honor to perform with him.
I hope you all enjoy this blog.

    Royal Rumble Wins (2)

    Royal Rumble 1995
    January 22, 1995
    Tampa, Florida

In this Rumble, Shawn was the first entrant in the ring. It was amazing that he would also be one of the final four men left in this match. Joining him were The British Bull Dog, Davey Boy Smith, Lex Lugar and Crush. Luger attacked Crush but was eliminated by Michaels. Crush then convinced Michaels to work with him but then turned on Michaels by attacking him. Michaels scratched Crush's eyes, which enabled Smith to eliminate Crush. Michaels and Smith, the first two entrants, were the last two wrestlers remaining. Smith threw Michaels over the top rope and began to celebrate. Michaels, who had only touched the floor with one foot, was not eliminated from the match. He attacked Smith from behind and threw him out of the ring to become the first wrestler to win the Royal Rumble after entering first. Michaels celebrated in the ring with Pamela Anderson.

    European Champion (1 time)

    Shawn Michaels vs British Bulldog
    September 20, 1997
    Birmingham, England

Shawn Michaels ended the British Bulldog's record seven-month reign as European Champion at the One Night Only pay-per-view in England. HBK held the championship for three months before practically handing the prize over to Triple H. It was during a December edition of RAW that Commissioner Slaughter forced the D-Generation X mates to battle over the title. They did, but they made a joke of the match while they did it. In the end, HBK lied down and allowed Triple H to get the pin, the win and the European Championship.

WWF/E World Tag Team Championship (5 Times)

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jeanetty (The Rockers) vs. Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart

    October 1990

The Rockers won the tag team titles from Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, at a taping of a house show. The WWF, voided the win due to a collapsed turnbuckle during the match and the match would never be broadcast or acknowledged on television. The Rockers would eventually split during a taping of Brutus “the Barber” Beefcake’s Barbershop when Michaels super kicked his partner, Marty Jannetty.

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty defeated The Hart Foundation for the title. Despite winning the match, the win and reign are not recognized by WWE, as the ring ropes broke and the match was not aired on television. As a result, Michaels is only officially recognized as a 5-time World Tag Team Champion.

    September 24, 1995 – September 25, 1995

Diesel, the WWE Champion, and Shawn Michaels, the Intercontinental Champion, were scheduled to take on the World Tag Team Champions, Owen Hart & Yokozuna at In Your House 3. The rules for this match were if Diesel or Shawn Michaels were pinned, the person who pinned him would win their Championship. If Michaels or Diesel got a pin, they would become the new World Tag Team Champions. Jim Cornette, Yokozuna and Owen Hart’s manager tried to reschedule the match because Hart had not shown up at the building. The British Bulldog took Hart's place. During the match, Owen entered the ring by flying off of the top rope. Diesel caught him and gave Owen the Jackknife Powerbomb... Diesel and Shawn had won the belts. Their title reign lasted less than 24 hours because Hart and Yokozuna's lawyer, Clarence Mason, found a way to give them the titles back.

Shawn’s first major title defense was at the 1993 Royal Rumble. However, with Davey Boy Smith having left the company, Marty Jannetty was inserted as Shawn’s challenger. This was the end to a good feud because Shawn had taken nine months off of Jannetty’s career. Another interesting thing that was associated with this match was that Sensational Sherri would be making her return at the Rumble. However, she took a neutral corner, much to Shawn’s surprise.

Late in, the match, the referee was taken out. That’s when Sherri took the opportunity to slap Shawn, and made her anger at him clear. However, when she went to smash him with her high heeled shoe, Shawn ducked, and it was Marty who was hit by the shoe. Shawn laid out Marty with a super kick and retained his title.

Then, he climbed on to the turnbuckles, jumped onto a ladder, and used his weight to push it down across Razor Ramon's chest. As Shawn tried retrieving the belts, Razor pushed him off the ladder. He gave Austin a snapmare and several kicks. As Shawn took time to work the audience, Stone Cold threw Shawn out of the ring. He was instantly thrown back into the ring by Tyson and Shawn applied a Figure Four leg lock on him. When that didn’t work, Shawn tried putting a sleeper hold on him. @ShawnMichaels_

I really enjoyed writing this blog about Shawn. I know that it was very long and I do want to thank each one of you for taking the time to read it. Shawn had so many memorable matches in his distinguished career that I honestly couldn’t stop writing. Shawn is such an amazing person outside of the ring and I consider him to be one of my best friends. I truly admire all that Shawn has accomplished in his career. Shawn definitely is and will always be, “A Show Stopper.”

    Until next time
