Who survived the "Perfect Storm" at Summerslam 2012?

SummerSlam is one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year and it definitely did not disappoint. I was very impressed with all of the matches on the card.In this blog, I am going to share with you my thoughts about the pay-per-view. So, read on and enjoy!

US Champion Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro : Pre SummerSlam Match

The Pre Match was Antonio Cesaro defeating the United States Champion Santino Marella. I am very happy about this and picked Mr. Cesaro to win. I don’t get to watch Smack Down! very often and honestly haven’t watched in months. However I’ve heard great things about this kid and considering he was an “Indy” wrestler AND looks like one, I think he will go a long way. Congrats to the New US Champion.

Winner: New US Champion Antonio Cesaro by Pinfall

My Prediction: Antonio Cesaro 1-0

Who would win: Antonio Cesaro 1-0

The official SummerSlam PPV started off with a huge match and a so to speak “Bang” with Vickie Guerrero coming to the ring and announcing “The Showoff” Dolph Ziggler.

Now I love Mr. Ziggler and I am a huge fan. He will be a huge draw (He kind of already is.) one day. I was really excited about this match especially when the lights went out and Chris’ jacket lit up.  The exact thought in my head was...We are about to witness a wrestling clinic and to me, I was right.

Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph said many times that Chris couldn’t win the “Big One” However he did last night at Summerslam when he made Mr. Ziggler Tap Out. It was a very entertaining match and it was back and forth the whole time. It was a crowd pleaser and a great opening match for this PPV. This in my opinion was Match of the Night even considering it was the opening match.

Winner: Chris Jericho by Submission

My Prediction: Chris Jericho 2-0

Who should win: Chris Jericho 2-0

Next up:

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan

I was kind of shocked at the outcome but over all very pleased. In the back of my mind I was telling myself, D-Bryan needs this win. Kane can’t benefit at all from winning but D-Bryan can. However I truly believed  the WWE would put Kane over instead. The match was mostly Kane with little offense from D- Bryan which made me keep wondering. Yet, when Kane went up for that Tombstone, and D-Bryan turned him around and rolled him up, I was in shock to say the least. I don’t think Kane has even been pinned by a “School Boy roll up” which I thought was a brilliant way to end this match. I am also very pleased I was wrong in this instance.

Winner: Daniel Bryan by Pinfall

My Prediction: Kane 2-1

Who should win: 3-0

Intercontinental Champion Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

I was looking forward to this match too and for me it did not disappoint. It was very back and forth, some very near falls. There were some cool moves and pinfalls that we haven’t seen in a long time. I just really loved this match, and to be honest I am going to put this match as my #3 favorite of the night. I also LOVED Rey coming out in the Batman thing. Totally reeked of Awesomeness J

Winner: Still IC Champion, the Miz by Pinfall

My Prediction: Miz 3-1

Who should win: 4-0

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players.

Kofi Kingston y R-Truth vs. Prime Time Players SummerSlam 2012

I have read and saw a lot of complaints about the PTP not winning this match. Personally, I am glad they didn’t. No disrespect to the Tag Team Division (Coming from half of the one of the best tag teams in history I might add lol) I don’t think the PTP are ready. After A.W.’s firing and all the controversy I thought they should keep the titles on Kofi and Truth. I won’t get too much into the situation but I stand behind WWE’s Decision on the A.W. thing and I am so very sorry but Mr. you are not the New rated R Superstar. Hell you weren’t even a Superstar, you were a glorified manager who thought he was bigger than what he was.

Back to the match though, this match was very entertaining and to put the PTP on this big of a stage I thought was good for their tag team and the whole division. They are a new up and coming tag team and  they just competed at Summerslam. I just hope they continue with More Tag Teams being in the mix.

Winners: And Still Tag Team Champions, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth w/ Little Jimmy J

My Prediction: Kofi and Truth 4-1

Who should win: Kofi and Truth 5-0

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio - SummerSlam 2012

For some reason people are upset about these two having matches. I think they are entertaining and I like both men. Sheamus is your power house Baby face (Good Guy) while Del Rio is your Wrestling Mechanic Heel (Bad Guy). I think it’s perfect to put these two together. They have great chemistry and really know how to work a crowd. I am not too thrilled with the Face Sheamus going over with a heelish act like knocking his foot off the rope on top of cheating to win with a boot. (Yes I know the Boot was thrown for Del Rio but most good guys would throw it out and do their own finisher). I am just not happy about the ending but it was entertaining. The only way I would have been happy with the ending was if Del Rio had won the title last night by knocking Sheamus’ foot off the rope to win the title. Overall a Decent Match for the World title between two great athletes.

Winner: And Still World Champion, Sheamus by Pinfall

My Prediction: Sheamus 5-1

Who should win: Sheamus 6-0

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

WWE SummerSlam 2012 - CM Punk vs. Big Show vs. John Cena

I am very happy that they used Big Show as a dominate force in this match. That is how you need to use a man of Big Show’s Size and power. I was very happy with how this match was put together. I loved the first ending to the match with the double submission. With CM Punk winning “Twice” that is a great way for him to “earn” respect and get him over. I loved him throwing Cena out of the ring. Do you really think John wouldn’t have done the same thing? Many questions going into Raw though and I am very excited. I must say one more thing about this match though, loved the tights Punk! J

Winner: Still WWE Champion, CM Punk by Pinfall

My Prediction: CM Punk 6-1

Who should win: CM punk 7-0

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar

Triple H Brock Lesnar SummerSlam 2012

This match started off a little odd I thought. Some Shoulder tackles and constantly going for the arm lock but I wasn’t upset about that at all. Considering that is what took Triple H and Shawn Michaels out it made perfect sense. I thought they did a great job with fighting yet wrestling at the same time. When you don’t make it a No DQ or something like that, you can’t use weapons so obviously it’s not going to be a fight like he had with John Cena at Extreme Rules. I thought they did a great job with totally investing the fans in this match. For me, it was everything they said it was going to be. It was nice to see Brock wrestle (Considering his first match back was a brawl) and do some moves and actually try and have a “match” (Isn’t that what the fans pay to see in WWE? Yet they are somehow upset that he didn’t fight….Not UFC Guys lol) I was really worried about Brock hitting that announcer table but I think he recovered well enough. It was a fight “So to speak” to the finish.  I know I was totally invested in the match and enjoyed it very much. I am friends with Triple H and love the guy but I was pulling for Brock Lesnar in this match. To bring the legitimacy back to Brock Lesnar, he needed to go over. It would make no sense for Brock to have lost this match. It was a very back and forth match and the ending came when you thought Triple H was going to win via Pedigree and Brock just grabs HHH “Made me think back to my match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania were he just popped up and put me in hell’s gate.”  I was satisfied that Triple H Tapping out to Brock Lesnar. This is why I agree with the ending….

1. Triple H doesn’t really need to win anymore. Brock needed that win since being back..Why bring in Brock Lesnar to lose to all your main event guys? Makes no sense right? Exactly!

2. Having Brock take out HBK and HHH (twice) makes it seems he is even more dangerous than when he was when he first came back against John Cena.

3. Having Triple H tap out means he couldn’t go anymore due to pain… Being pinned means he was flat out gone and didn’t have the strength to tap out. So I was glad they went with a Tap Out. I was honestly seeing a Tap Out or No Contest in this match.

4. Brock Lesnar really needed this win to really push the “Beast” Persona for himself.

And

5. WWE needs a Monster like this running around and he is the perfect guy to do it. Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature so to speak and I love what he brings to the WWE in general. Huge Brock Lesnar Fan and Fought him many times before my first neck injury and we tore the house down many nights.

Winner: Brock Lesnar by Submission

My Prediction: Triple H 6-2

Who should win: Brock Lesnar 8-0

Money in the Bank 2012: Who Went Home With The Brief Cases?

Money in the Bank 2012:

Although the Money in the Bank pay-per-view was a few weeks ago, I still wanted to write my reflections and talk about it with all you. So, I am sorry for the delay. Read on and tell me what you think……………

Kofi! Truth! Hunico! Camacho! Pre-Show! Non-Title Match

I know that the WWE is trying to re-build the tag team division and I think that they are doing a pretty good job. However, I thought that it did look bad for the Tag Team Champions to be in a dark match where the belts were not on the line. I don’t understand why The Prime Time Players didn’t face off against Primo and Epico for the Number One Contenders spot. With that being said R- Truth pinned Camacho and gave the Tag Team Champions a victory. I do feel that the titles are going to change hands shortly. The Prime Time Players do seem to be getting a push so lets’ see what happens.

Winner:Kofi and R-Truth

World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Match

Ziggler, Santino, Tensai, Kidd, Christian, Sandow, Rhodes,Sin Cara

This was one of the matches that I was looking forward to seeing all night. There were so many talented participants. Everyone really worked their asses off! Tyson Kidd and Tensai have developed a great rivalry. I look forward to seeing Kidd get a very big push shortly. I was pretty shocked that Santino lasted as long as he did but didn’t expect him to win. My buddy Christian, almost had it won until he took a nasty spill off the ladder, compliments of Dolph. At the end, I was happy to see Dolph grab the briefcase. He has a great future ahead of him and I do see him cashing in the briefcase and beating Sheamus very soon.

I just want to say that i am Very proud of Dolph and excited to see Dolph/Jericho! Two of my favorite guys going at it and i think the one guy Dolph needs to elevate his career is Chris Jericho. Perfect Storyline for Dolph and it gives Jericho a Face turn going into him leaving for his Music.

Winner: Smackdown Mr. MITB: Dolph Ziggler

Sheamus! Del Rio! Ricardo! World Heavyweight Championship

I didn’t expect Sheamus to drop the title to Del Rio. Del Rio worked on Sheamus’ arm for most of the match and was great at taunting the crowd. Sheamus came alive at the end and The Great White prevailed by giving Del Rio a Brogue Kick. It seems to me that Del Rio is going to beat down Sheamus in a future match and Ziggler will definitely cash in on it.

Winner and Still World Champion: Sheamus

Cena! Jericho! Kane! Show and The Miz WWE Championship Money in the Bank!

One of the best parts of this match was when The Miz added himself into it. He is such a modest guy. I love it! Lol. This match went back and forth all evening and it seemed that The Big Show was going to win. To my surprise, Cena hit Show multiple times and grabbed the briefcase to win the match. It seemed to me that the ending got botched because even Cena was kind of surprised that he won. What else is new? Lol!

P.S. I do think Cena wasn't supposed to win however i loved that for a guy of his Magnitude that they felt comfortable with him "Cashing In" and "Loosing". I think that gives it more of a value of, "Could it really happen, Could they really Loose?" I mean He is John Cena.

 Raw Mr. MITB: John Cena

Punk! Bryan! AJ! YES! NO! MAYBE SO! WWE Championship!

This match kept me on “The Edge” of my seat. I wanted to know who AJ was going to help. AJ added a lot of drama into the match and I knew when she got knocked out that she would have to return. Both men took a lot of punishment and in the end, Punk, hit a back suplex and put Bryan through the table. I was hoping that Bryan would win but I think that his time is near. This was a good storyline and once again Punk does a great job of showing the world why he is the best at what he does.”

Winner and Still WWE Champion: CM Punk

Layla! Kaitlin! and Eve! Vs. Tamina! Beth! Natayla

This was a decent divas match. It didn’t last long though. Tamina hit a super kick on Beth and Layla made the pin. The Divas division is a bit weak. Hopefully, with the return of Kelly Kelly, we will start to see some better story lines.  I have noticed that we are getting to see more of Kaitlin. She does have a lot of athletic talent and I am happy that she is getting a push.
Winners: Tamina, Kaitlin and Layla

Primo and Epico Vs The Prime Time Players
I was and still am disappointed that this took place instead of the Tag Titles. However i enjoyed the match and loved the Epico and Primo got their revenge on the Tag Team. They need more Tag Team Turmoil and this might just do it. Now Add Hawkins/Reks and The Uso's. As well as (My personal wants is Sin Cara and Rey mysterio - it would give more presitege to the division) and you have multiple Tag teams to great a Tag Team Division as the Tag Champions are R-Truth and Kofi.
Winners: Primo and Epico

Ryback! Vs. Hawkins! and Reks!

Ryback asked to be fed some more opponents and he got what he asked for, “two opponents.” Lol. Hawkins and Reks did a good job of trying to take down Ryback. This was actually the longest match of Ryback’s career. At the end, Ryback pinned Reks. I am hoping to see Ryback develop a feud with Randy when he returns or even Cena in the future.
Winner: RyBack

I thought that Money in the Bank 2012 was one of the better pay-per-views of the year. What did you guys think? Were you happy with Cena and Dolph winning the briefcases? Comment and let me know.
