Who Walked out of Boston WWE Champion? Night of Champions 2012

Night of Champions PPV and it started out with a bang with Zack Ryder on the pre Show. Enjoy my blog. Thanks as always for reading....

Pre-Show Battle Royal: #1 Contendership for United States Championship

The latest pay-per- view event started off with a pre-show Battle Royal to determine the # 1 contender to the United States Championship which is currently held by Antonio Cesaro. In this pre PPV match, the athletes involved included the PTP, Brodus Clay, Tyson Kidd, Ted Dibiase Jr, Heath Slater, Tensai, Santino Marella and more.

The Winner to become the new #1 Contender: Zack Ryder

Night of Champions was a very good ppv with some great matches on the card. With the hype going into the show, I knew it would be good. The match started out with a bang and sure got the ball rolling for this action packed ppv.

Due to Jerry Lawler’s heart attack on Monday Night Raw, they needed someone to cover with Michael Cole to Call the ppv. I was very pleased and excited to hear that it would be JBL – John “Bradshaw” Layfield.

Intercontinental Championship: Fatal 4 Way Match

Miz © vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Sin Cara

This matchup between 4 wonderfully gifted athletes started with everyone attacking each other. It was very fast paced at some points and really gave the fans momentum to look forward to later in the night. Cody Rhodes got more of a baby face reaction which is going to be hard for fans to really make him a boneafide heel because people like him to well. It’s important to make sure you have two heels and two baby faces in these types of matches. However, Miz was a lone shark regardless of a few “Miz is awesome” chants. It just seems the crowd in Boston wanted to reverse baby face and heel roles Sunday night. I didn’t mind one bit. I don’t think people got into Sin Cara as well as they could have. I feel that this was the right decision not to give it to Sin Cara even though that’s all the announcers wanted to talk about that Sin Cara had a chance to win his first Title in the WWE. They should have put more emphasis on Cody Rhodes instead of Sin Cara. I enjoyed the ending where Sin Cara put the mask on Miz. Even though people won’t look at it in this way, it just showed the casual fans that he is more than good, He can win blindfolded. He was completely blind and still retained his Championship. Miz pinned Cody Rhodes (oddly enough) to get the victory.

And Still IC Champion: The Miz

WWE Tag Team Championship

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth © vs. The Big Red Monster Kane& Daniel “Yes-No” Bryan

I was very excited for this match up because I knew something was going to go down. Kane and D-Bryan are the most entertaining thing going on right now and keep me laughing every segment. Kane is a very close friend and I enjoy seeing him on my television. Even though he should be a massive Heel Monster, I don’t mind this gimmick because it’s with Daniel Bryan. I think having him with D-Bryan gives both of them an advantage and also helps D-Bryan become more of a main eventer. Not a lot of guys get an opportunity to go out there every night and work with a guy like Kane….Anyways,

This match was very good and of course the comedy but it’s never too much. It’s just right which makes it really good. They tag themselves in, they mess with each other which you don’t ever see so it’s really special right now. It’s a new tag team; those two could really help the tag team division and really give it the edge it needs right now to re- establish the division. It was very back and forth and ultimately they argued to the point where the crowd chanted “ Hug it out.” Now I am sure there are a lot of “internet fans” who hate that and think these two should be doing something else. They have no idea how much they are helping each other. With them hugging it out isn’t a bad thing, it’s entertaining but it also tells a story. That’s what acting is and entertainment is what the game is all about. It’s great! The ending came when Daniel Bryan was mad and pushed Kane off the top rope, luckily or unluckily – (depends on which team you were cheering for) Kane landed on Kofi Kingston and got the victory.

After the match Kane and Daniel Bryan got their respective Championship Belts and then started yelling at each other, “I’m the Tag Team Champions” It was very entertaining and kept me laughing the whole time. It then lead to a backstage segment where AJ Lee (the GM) and the psychiatrist got involved and Kane ended up dumping a whole thing of Gatorade on Daniel Bryan. Kane then stated “ I’m Going to Disneyland!” This is probably my favorite moment of the night so far.

Winner and NEW WWE Tag Team Champions: Kane and Daniel Bryan

We see a segment where the #1 Contender to the Divas Championship is laying on the ground and hurt her ankle. Cue Booker T and Teddy long mentioning there has to be a title match tonight so Eve now gets the opportunity.

WWE Divas Championship

Layla © vs. Eve

This match did what it was supposed to. It wasn’t horrible by any means but it wasn’t given time and to be honest Layla has lost her edge. She is way better than what she has been performing the last few months. She needs to take time and really try and re- learn her craft. They could of had a great match.  However, it was a bit of a letdown. I was happy to see Eve win because story goes that Eve won the title for her new friend Katelyn.

Winner and NEW Divas Champion Eve

The Apex Predator Randy Orton vs. the Resident Show –Off & Mr. Money in the Bank Dolph Ziggler

I really enjoyed this match and was really excited when I heard these two were going to face off. They had a great back and forth match and kept everyone wondering who was going to win. Ultimately Randy RKOed Dolph to Get the win but the great thing about this match was…. how Randy got the RKO. Sometimes when you watch Randy, he is so routine, just like John. They tend to really do the same moves and not really do anything different. Well Randy changed that up a little and when Dolph went up, Randy Pushed him up in the air and then when he fell back down is how he landed the RKO. It was very nice, well organized and came off beautifully.

Winner by Pinfall Randy Orton

United States Championship match:

Antonio Cesaro © vs. Zack Ryder

Now both of these guys I am very fond of. Zack is kind of like my kid in training lol along with Hawkins. I am very impressed with Antonio Cesaro. I really like how this kid works and by the announcing, I would say JBL thinks the same way. To me, he has a lot of skills, and he looks like a wrestler and he has a following kind of like Punk and Bryan. This kid will be big one day, mark my words. I also LOVED the uppercut from midair. That was one of my moments of the night. Great match and it showed me they are thinking of doing something with Ryder.

Winner and STILL United States Champion Antonio Cesaro

Before this match, Booker T (Smackdown GM) came out and un-banned the Brogue Kick by Sheamus.

World Heavyweight Championship Match:

Sheamus © vs. Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez

I am sure a lot of you are over these two having a match together. Sometimes it gets boring without a gimmick match up. I thought banning the Brogue Kick was genius and would add to the story. However, they ruined it by unbanning it before the match. All that did was give the story an easier way to continue. Everyone who enjoyed the unbanning, I am sure you don’t understand that all that did was continue the feud. I am hoping if it’s not over by Hell in a Cell, that at least add someone new to the mix. I think Sheamus and Del Rio do a great job with each other, they are very entertaining. But sometimes adding 1 more guy in the mix does more good than harm.

This match was a good back and forth match between the two. Good opening minutes and closing. I enjoyed Sheamus getting beat down for once. You thought Del Rio was in the driver’s seat to get a victory after two arm bars but then Sheamus out of nowhere hits the kick and retains his championship. I personally thought this was a much better match between the two than Summerslam.

Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus

WWE Championship Match

CM Punk © w/ Paul Heyman vs. John Cena

Alright here is the match everyone was waiting to see. I myself felt the same way. Many people were stating before the ppv that there is no way Cena won’t win. He can’t lose in his hometown, well even though the ppv is over, I would like to say this. I Beat John Cena in Boston for the WWE Title, so it def. can happen and did. This match was almost as good as the Chicago Match, but not quite there. However, it is always harder to top what you have already done. It was a great back and forth match. I wasn’t too fond of all the finishers because that’s what it’s supposed to be, a Finisher. I don’t see the point in kicking out of 3 different finishers then loosing with a simple move. I think it defeats the purpose of what you are trying to accomplish. These two guys can keep attention without all of the extras. When a rivalry like Austin/Rock, HHH/HBK, Orton/Cena. I understand typical false finishers but Punk and Cena just renewed their rivalry and weren’t quite where they needed to be. Now Hell in a cell that’s another story. However, Cena won’t be able to be a part of that match. I was very proud of these guys and they stole the show like no other. The crowd was alive. I did enjoy Boston Booing yet cheering for Cena. The Finish came when John Cena hit a German Suplex off the top rope. 1-2-3! John Cena wins the WWE Championship….or so we thought. I am sure a lot of people out there that were fooled by this and I believe this finish was BRILLIANT! Not only does it cost Cena a win in Boston. But it keeps the Title on Punk and the fans are very mixed. I can only imagine how many people Jumped in celebration to sit back down and accept the miserable Defeat. CM Punk played it very well and so did Cena. Great ending to a great ppv. I have no bad things to say about this PPV. The ending was brilliant and it made for controversy and sometimes that’s what it takes to get people interested again.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion CM Punk

This PPV event was especially done well and I give major props to the WWE for putting on a great PPV. Every match served a purpose, every match was well put together and every match had a memorable ending. I am very proud of all the men and women who put on this show because they worked their asses of to entertain everyone and I believe they did a great job at it. The ending to the main event and even a few other matches really makes you already start thinking of the next PPV, which will be Hell in a Cell, live in Atlanta Georgia.

Thank you all for reading and have a wonderful Week.
