This blog was really special for me to write because it is an accumulation of all of my accomplishments at World Wrestling Entertainment. I have won a combined total of 31 Championships in the WWE and I have wrestled everywhere imaginable. In all the years I have done this, the hardest thing that I ever had to do was to retire. I wrestled from (July 1, 1992- April 11, 2011) and I honestly enjoyed every minute of it. I started working for the WWE in 1997 under a developmental contract. I made my official debut on television about a year later. On July 22, 1998, I defeated Jose Estrada Jr. to pick up my very first win in the WWE. When I look back at it now, I think I did pretty well for myself.
During my career, I have been called so many things. Some of my most famous nicknames are: “King Edge the Awesome” - “The Rated R Superstar” - “The Ultimate Opportunist” - “The Master Manipulator” - “Mr. Money in the Bank” - The Grand Puppermaster”!
Other In- Ring Names I have gone by through the years are: Adam Copeland- Adam Impact - Conquistador Uno- Damon Striker and yes, even- Sexton Hardcastle LOL!
No matter what I was called in that ring, I always did one thing and that was to entertain. I am the 14th Triple Crown Winner, which means I have won everything there is to win. I am the only one to ever win King of the Ring (2001), Money in the Bank (2005), and The Royal Rumble Match (2010).
I was trained by Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutchinson officially but some others who trained me are: Dory Funk Jr. (In WWF/E Development), Tom Prichard (In WWF/E Development), Leo Burke (Dungeon) and Stu Hart (Dungeon).
I was also a part of a few stables which include:
The Brood (With Christian, and Gangrel)
Ministry of Darkness ( With Undertaker, Paul Bearer, The Acolytes *Bradshaw and Faarooq*, Mideon, Viscera, and the Brood)
Edge and Christian
Rated RKO (With Randy Orton)
La Familia (with Vickie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder and Bam Neely)
Throughout my years with World Wrestling Entertainment, I had the privilege to perform and create with some of the best that our business had to offer. Those individuals include - The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Randy Orton, Undertaker, Christian, Mick Foley, Eddie Guerrero, and Owen Hart, among others.
So you think that you know me-just to make sure read on!
United States Championship (one time)
Edge vs. Kurt Angle ( November 12, 2001 - November 18, 2001)
This match took place on Monday Night Raw . It was live from Boston. I defeated Kurt Angle with a little help from Kane to win my only United States Championship. I always loved working with Kurt Angle and we of course had our classic "Hair vs. Hair" match...which I won by the way.
Intercontinental Championships (Five Times)
Edge vs. Jeff Jarrett (July 24, 1999 - July 25, 1999)
This was a house show (A Non-Televised Event) and I was in the back. However, I had already competed that night with Christian. All of a sudden, I remembered getting told, "Hurry! Get dressed." I was going to be a last minute replacement for Ken Shamrock. I wasn’t supposed to win the title, just the match because I wasn’t the actual contender. I was totally surprised when I was told to, “Go Get my Championship!” I actually won the title, (my first WWE title) in my hometown. It was a very special moment for me even though I lost the title the next day.
Edge vs. Lance Storm (August 19, 2001 - September 23, 2001)
This match took place at Summer Slam 2001 in San Jose, California. It was a very enjoyable match. I remember Christian running in and actually hitting me. Lance just couldn't score the win. I won the match and had my second reign as Intercontinental Champion.
Edge vs. Christian (October 21, 2001 - November 5, 2001)
This match against Christian was truly one of the most enjoyable matches and storylines that I had in my career. Myself and Christian really worked well together. In St. Louis, that night, we had a ladder match. Boy, it was a hell of a match! I ended up winning my third Intercontinental Championship that night by giving Christian a Con-chair-to at the top of the ladder.
Edge vs. Test (November 18, 2001 - January 20, 2002)
This night at Survivor Series, in Greensboro N.C, myself and Test had an Intercontinental and United States title unification match. It was a lot of fun! I actually retired The United States title for a short while.
Edge vs. Randy Orton (July 11, 2004 - September 6, 2004)
Vengeance, in Hartford, Connecticut would be my first title match after my neck injury. I was so hungry for a title that I was willing to do just about anything to get it. This match clearly showed that Randy and I could go out and have fun while entertaining the fans. Luckily, this wasn't the last time you saw us together. After that though, I had to vacate the title due to injury once more. It didn't put me on the shelf too long. By the way, the successor was Chris Jericho.
World/WWE Tag Team Championshipships (Thirteen)
Edge and Christian vs. The Dudley Boys Vs Hardy Boyz(April 2, 2000 - May 29, 2000)
Our First Tag Team Championship was a personal favorite for both Christian and I. It was so very special for both of us. As kids, we had dreamed of the day and moment that we would win these belts together. This happened for Christian and me at WrestleMania when we defeated The Dudley Boys. We felt a rush of emotion, as we stood on a table, on top of ladders and reached up and grabbed the tag team championship belts. It was truly a night that both of us will never forget. Anaheim was a great city and it seems that I have won quite a few titles in California.
Edge and Christian vs. Too Cool (June 25, 2000 - September 24, 2000)
Not even a month later, we won the tag team titles again. This time, it was against Too Cool in Boston. Nothing could have possibly beaten winning the tag team championship belts for the first time. However, it was special for Christian and me to know that Vince had faith in us and showed it by making us two time tag team champions at King of the Ring, 2000.
Los Conquistadors vs. The Hardy Boys (October 22, 2000 - October 23, 2000)
We had lost our last chance to get a shot at the tag team titles so Christian and I changed our appearance. We dressed up under masks and were now called," Los Conquistadors." It was a lot of fun even though we only held the titles for one night. At No Mercy, we defeated Matt and Jeff Hardy when Christian pinned Matt with the Unprettier (Now he calls this move, "The Killswitch.") This marked our third reign as tag team champions.
Edge and Christian vs. Bill Buchanan and The Goodfather
(December 10, 2000 - December 18, 2000)
Myself and Christian won our fourth Tag Team Championship, at Armageddon, in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a four corner match against Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather, The Dudleys, Road Dogg and K-Kwik. In the end, my spear seemed too much for Bubba Ray Dudley as I was the victor and helped us to win the titles again.
Edge and Christian vs. The Rock and The Undertaker (December 21, 2000- January 21, 2001)
This match took place on SmackDown!, in Charlotte, North Carolina. It would be a rematch against The Undertaker and The Rock for The World Tag Team Championship Belts. On this night, Kurt Angle, a good friend of mine, would be the guest referee. Although ,The Rock had early control of the match, Kurt refused to make any counts. Kurt’s action earned him a Rock Bottom from Dwayne. Poor Kurt! LOL! Since, Kurt could no longer referee, Earl Hebner, was called. In the middle of the match, Hebner became distracted when Christian and The Undertaker battled outside the ring. The Rock had just given me a “Spine Buster” and was about to pin me. Then, out of nowhere Kurt returned and gave The Rock, “An Angle Slam.” Kurt threw me on top of the Rock, acted as the referee again and counted to three. The match was over. This was the fifth World Tag Team reign for Christian and me.
Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boys (March 19, 2001- March 19, 2001)
Edge and Christian vs. The Dudleys
I remember this being one crazy night at The Pepsi Arena, in Albany New York. The Dudleys were originally supposed to face The Hardy Boyz for the World Tag Team Championship. However, Jay and I had other ideas. We came out claiming that The Dudleys were not in the arena and that we would happily take their place in a title match against The Hardy Boyz. Matt and Jeff accepted our invitation and it didn’t turn out well for them. Rhyno stormed the ring and hit Jeff with,” The Gore” allowing yours truly to pick up the win. This would be the sixth time that Jay and I held the World Tag Team Championship. Before Jay and I even had time to celebrate, The Dudleys appeared and we had to face them later on in the evening. The Dudleys came out on top, making this one of the shortest reigns in WWE history.
Edge and Christian vs. The Dudleys Vs Hardy Boyz (April 1, 2001-April 30 2001)
This match took place at WrestleMania XXVII, at the Houston Astrodome. The Dudleys would be defending their tag team championship belts against Christian and me and The Hardy Boyz in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. As you all know, this would eventually become one of my all-time favorite type of matches. On this night, when Jay and I went out to the ring, I stopped, just for a moment, to soak up the size of the crowd. There were around seventy thousand people. It was insane! This match was action packed as tables, ladders and chairs flew everywhere. To make a long story short, we all spent a good portion of the match trying to climb one of the ladders and get the tag team championship belts. In the end, my good friend Rhyno, put Jay on his shoulder and Jay climbed the ladder, while I held Devon Dudley down. Jay then grabbed the belts making us seven time World Tag Team Champions. This by the way would be the last time that Jay and I would hold the World Tag Team Championship belts together. And in case you were wondering, there were only two causalities in this match as Spike Dudley wound up losing a tooth and Matt received seventeen staples in his head.
Edge and Hulk Hogan vs. Billy and Chuck (July 4, 2002- July 21, 2002)
This match took place in Boston. It was a very emotional match for me because I got to team with one of my childhood idols, “Hulk Hogan.” How many people could actually say that they were actually able to do that? Hulk and I took on Billy and Chuck for the World Tag Team Championship. Billy and Chuck had the advantage in the early goings. However, at the end of the match, Hulk and I both hit the big boot and leg drop on Billy and Chuck. I got the pin and the rest was history. This was Hulk’s first tag team championship and it was my eighth. Although, our reign as tag team champions only lasted a month, the memory of this match has lasted a life time!
Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit (November 2, 2002-November 17, 2002)
Rey and I had a great time being tag team partners. We are really good friends outside of the ring. Although, our wrestling styles are completely different, we somehow complimented one another. We received an opportunity to get the World Tag Team Championship belts in Manchester, New Hampshire. This match was taped for SmackDown! Our opponents were Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. Rey and I faced them in a best two out of three falls match. We split the first two falls. Rey appeared to win the third fall by pinning Kurt using a sunset flip. However, Kurt’s foot was on the ropes and the match was restarted. At the end of the match, I gave Kurt a spear. Chris tried to break up the pin with a top rope head-butt. I moved and Kurt wound up nailing Chris. I then pinned Kurt and Rey and I became World Tag Team Champions. Although, we only held the titles for two weeks, Rey and I have always had a special friendship and a blast teaming together.
Edge and Chris Benoit vs. Ric Flair and Batista (April 19, 2004- May 3, 2004)
Calgary, Alberta Canada
We were in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I always enjoyed performing in front of fans in my home country. On this night, I got to team up with Chris, in his home town, and we won the Tag Team titles together. This was such an awesome experience. Chris and I were truly really good friends. I loved teaming with him. Our matches together or against one another never disappointed people. The experience, of actually winning in Canada, with a fellow Canadian, against a legend like Ric Flair….was simply amazing! We kept the titles for about a month or so. We lost them to La Resistance.
Edge and Chris Benoit vs. Rob Conaway and Sylvain Grenier (October 19, 2004- November 1, 2004)
Milwaukee Wisconsin
We won the Tag Titles again at Taboo Tuesday. This was an interactive PPV so the fans got to vote. This particular match went like this. Chris Benoit, Edge, and Shawn Michaels - The fans got to vote for who they wanted to see face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship. The two who did not get voted in would team up and face Rob Conway and Sylvain Grenier for the Tag Team Championship later in the evening. Well, Shawn Michaels ended up winning. (He was only on one leg because he tore his Meniscus the night before.) I also was only 7% behind Shawn for the win. So, I played as if I was pissed since, he was injured, his votes should have gone to me and I should have been facing Triple H for the title. (Mind you, at that time, I had never been a part of a 1 on 1 World title match.) So during my tag title match, I left Chris and they showed me leaving the building. Chris won the titles on his own. I returned later in the night and speared HBK, to help Triple H win. After Shawn came back from his injury, we had an awesome program that I will never forget.
Edge and Randy Orton vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper and Ric Flair
(November 13, 2006- January 29, 2007)
Randy and I formed Rated- RKO and took on the legendary team of Ric Flair and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in Manchester, England. I took out Piper early in the match with a con- chair –to. This left Flair to face Randy and me by himself. Although Ric gave a valiant effort, he was no match for us. In the end, I nailed the, “Nature Boy” with a spear to get the winning pinfall and the tag team gold. With this win, I became an eleven time World Tag Team Champion while Randy became a World Tag Team Champion for the first time. On a personal note, I always enjoyed working with Ric Flair. I have great respect for him. He is a great competitor and I learned a lot from him.
Edge and Chris Jericho vs. Carlito and Primo
(June 28, 2009- July 26, 2009)
This match was very special to me because it was the last time in my career that I would become a World Tag Team Champion. At the Bash, in Sacramento, California, Carlito and Primo were supposed to fight Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase for the belts. Teddy Long, decided to make this a triple threat match and added Chris and I to the match. Being the Ultimate Opportunist, I speared Carlito and Chris and I won the Unified Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, on July 3, 2009 I tore my Achilles during a match with Jeff Hardy and the Big Show replaced me as Chris’partner.
WWE Championship (4 times)
Edge vs. John Cena
(January 8 2006 -January 29 2006)
Albany, New York (Elimination Chamber) New Year's Revolution2006 - January This night, I decided to cash in my Money in the Bank Briefcase. John had just won the Elimination Chamber match. He was absolutely exhausted from his match. I speared John and I won my first ever WWE Championship. It was probably (other than a few other matches) one of the happiest nights of my life. I actually cried. Holding that belt showed me that Vince truly believed in me. I also got the chance to show him that,” I deserved it!”
Edge vs. John Cena and Rob Van Dam
(July 3 2006- September 17, 2006)
Philadelphia
My second reign as WWE Champion came at the expense of Rob Van Dam. He had gotten into some trouble, so he had to drop the title. It was July 3rd and we were in Philadelphia. I am sure Rob wished that he would not be losing the title here. Philadelphia was the city, in which he started his career as a wrestler. It was a Triple Threat Match between us two and John Cena. I won the match and this was actually my longest WWE or World Title reign I had. (It ended in Toronto, Canada)
Edge vs. Triple H and Vladimir Koslov
(November 24, 2OO8-December 14, 2008)
Boston
I had just returned from another Injury at Survivor Series when Vickie interrupted a WWE title match between Triple H and Koslov. Their match was well underway when I was inserted into the match. Jeff Hardy had come down and interfered but cost “The Game” the match and I had won my third WWE Championship.
Edge vs. Jeff Hardy
(January 26, 2009 - February 15, 2009)
DetroitI was in a match with Jeff Hardy for his newly won WWE title. I had won the title but from the help of an unlikely ally….Matt Hardy. He had turned on Jeff which gave me the opportunity (I am the Ultimate Opportunist remember). I left Detroit with my fourth and final WWE
World Heavy Weight Championships (Seven)
Edge vs. The Undertaker
(May 8, 2007- July 17, 2007)
The Undertaker took on Batista in a steel cage match in Pittsburg. At, the end of the match, “The Phenom”, and Batista were both down. Suddenly, Mark Henry entered the ring and assaulted the Undertaker. With the Undertaker practically out, I cashed in my Money in The Bank briefcase and challenged him to a match. The Undertaker was wiped out from his match with Batista. I easily speared him to end the match and earned my first World Heavyweight Championship.
Edge vs. Batista and The Undertaker
(December 16, 2007- March 30, 2008)
This match was a no disqualifications, triple threat match against Batista and The Undertaker. It took place at Armageddon, in Pittsburgh. Batista, The Undertaker and I took turns inflicting punishment on one other throughout the match. At the end of the match, two Edge look a likes Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder) gave me a helping hand. After all, “Three Edges are so much better than one.” LOL! While Batista was out, I hit the Undertaker with a chair and then pinned him to claim the gold.
Edge vs. The Undertaker
(June 1, 2008 – June 30, 2008)
This was a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match that took place in San Diego, California. The Undertaker and I spent most of the match hitting each other with chairs and throwing one another into tables. I gave The Undertaker a lot of shots to the knees, making it hard for him to climb the ladder. I also received help once again from my good buddies Hawkins, and Ryder who assisted me in assaulting The Undertaker. La Familia interfered in the match as well. At the end of the match, I put The Undertaker through two tables outside of the ring. As he lay motionless, I climbed the ladder and grabbed the belt.
Edge vs. John Cena vs. Mike Knox vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho vs.Kane
(February 16 2009 – April 5, 2009)
This elimination chamber match took place at No Way Out! in Seattle. Although I was eliminated in Smackdown's Chamber you might be wondering how I did this. Here’s exactly what happened:
John Cena started in the ring with Mike Knox. I sneaked into the chamber by attacking Kofi Kingston with a chair and took his spot in the chamber. Kofi, then left in a stretcher. Then, I ran into the chamber and locked myself inside. Rey tried to get me out but it didn’t work. As I battled Rey, Jericho did codebreakers to Mike Knox, Kane, and John Cena. This all led to their eliminations. Rey then eliminated Jericho and I speared Rey to win it all!
Edge vs. John Cena
(April 26 2009 -June 9, 2009)
This match was a part of the pay- per-view, Backlash. It took place in Providence Rhode Island. In order to win the match, you Did Not need to pin your opponent. This was a Last Man Standing Match. This was definitely one of my better matches against John Cena. During the match, John and I traded many blows and even used the steps from outside of the ring to hit one another. John tried to use his, “Attitude Adjustment” and “STF” on me. I was able to spear him a few times in the match too. For me, the best part of the match came at the end. After John, chased me into the crowd, he and I fought on stage, where I DDT’d him onto the steel grating. I also went back stage to get a chair and struck him with it on his head and back. After that, The Big Show came out. He grabbed John by his throat and threw him against a spotlight next to the stage. There was a big explosion when John went through the spotlight. When the referee counted to ten and John couldn’t get up, I became the new World Heavy Weight champion.
Edge vs. Kane, Rey Mysterio, and Alberto Del Rio(with Ricardo Rodriguez)
(December 19, 2010-February 18, 2011)
This was a four way TLC match that took place in Houston, Texas. At the beginning of the match, I jumped off of a ladder and put Kane through a table at ring side. I also speared Rey and Del Rio. When I climbed the ladder for the first time, Kane tipped it over and I fell down. As the match continued, Rey hit a 619 on Del Rio, Del Rio put a side Armbreaker on Rey and Ricardo Rodriguez, Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, attempted to climb the ladder, to get the belt when all of us were distracted. However, Kane used the choke slam on him and Ricardo was finished for the night. Toward the end of the match, Kane tried to climb the ladder to get the belt. Of course I couldn’t let this happen. So, I struck him with a chair to the back twice and jabbed the chair into his chest. Then, I speared Kane through a table at ringside, climbed the ladder and pulled down the belt. The crowd was really fired up when I held up the gold!
Edge vs. Dolph Ziggler
(February 18, 2011- April 15, 2011)
This match took place in San Diego, California. It was a special evening for me because this match was being taped for the 600th episode of SmackDown! I appeared on the first episode of SmackDown! and was excited to be featured on the 600th episode as World Champion. Unfortunately, prior to this match, I had been fired by Vickie Guerrero, who was the acting General Manager. Luckily for me, Teddy Long returned after being assaulted and reinstated me! Thanks Teddy! LOL! During the match, Dolph and I mixed it up quite a bit. Dolph escaped from one spear and I was able to avoid the,”Zig Zag and the “Sleeper hold.” To end the match, I nailed Dolph with a spear and then reclaimed my World Championship. After the match, Teddy fired Dolph and Vickie for assaulting him.
On April 15, 2011, I relinquished the World Championship belt due to neck injuries. As most of you know, I am now retired. I am truly thrilled that my best friend, Christian is now a two-time World Champion!
King of the Ring
Edge vs. Kurt Angle
(June 24, 2001)
I had defeated Rhyno earlier in the night and in the end it came down to myself and Kurt. I won after about ten minutes. It was a good match and was my real first milestone in the WWE. So many guys became legends after winning this tournament so I was pretty hopeful that it would happen for me as well. I don't think I did so bad. After the match though, Christian came out and tore up my trophy.
Money in The Bank (Two time)
Wrestlemania 21- (April 2,2005) Edge vs Kane, Christian, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin
This match is very special to me because I got to perform with four of my closest friends. It also was the first step to my first WWE Championship. It was a tough match by far but the fans loved it. This is the reason why it's still going on now. I hit Chris Benoit, with a chair, while he was climbing the ladder to win. I did that so I could climb up the ladder and win it all !
Edge vs. Ken Kennedy
(May 7, 2006)
Kennedy had gotten hurt and they had to do something with the MITB briefcase. So, they had me win it on Raw. I challenged Kennedy to a match for the briefcase on Raw and he accepted. This gave me a guarantee of winning the WWE title for the second time.
Royal Rumble
(January 31, 2010)
vs. 30 other participants (I won by throwing John Cena over the top rope)
The Royal Rumble was a very special match for me because I had never won it before. I had won everything in the WWE at that point in time except for this match. Winning the Royal Rumble was truly one of the most gratifying moments in my career, especially after suffering an Achilles tendon injury.
Other than the WWE, I worked for many other companies. It’s weird to think that I only won Championships in four companies though.
Here are my other titles from other organizations:
Insane Championship Wrestling
ICW Street Fight Tag Team Championship (2 times) –Christian
New Tokyo Pro Wrestling
NTPW Pro Tag Team Championship (1 time) – Christian
Southern States Wrestling
SSW Tag Team Championship (1 time) –Christian
Throughout my career, I had many accomplishments. Although, a lot of people don’t like Pro Wrestling Illustrated, I think they do a pretty good job at how they award. So my accomplishments from PWI) are:
Comeback of the Year (2004) - Neck Injury
Feud of the Year ( 2005) With Lita vs. Matt Hardy
Feud of the Year (2006) vs, John Cena
Match of the Year (2000) With Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz Vs The Hardy Boyz At WM 2000
Match of the Year (2001) With Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz Vs The Hardy Boyz At WM X-Seven
Most Hated Wrestler of the Year (2006)
Most Improve Wrestler of the Year (2001)
Here is a Speical Pic of Myself and Christian after i Retained my World Title at Wrestlemania 27- My last Championship in the WWE and my Last title defense.
